Our employee spotlight this week is for Carl Domingo! He started in July 2004, which means he's been at NLSS for just over 19 years.
Carl is the Schooner Creek Public Transfer Station Attendant and his trustee counterpart Maxwell is always keeping him company on the less busy days on the hill. If you haven't been up to meet Carl before, we highly suggest saying "hello" as he's fantastic at his job and is a great guy!
Here are some fun facts about Carl:
Born and Raised on the island of Kauai and watching my parents working so hard to make ends meet I decided to create my own path in life. I enlisted in the armed forces right out of high school. I returned to Kauai and started working for a company called Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI) a worldwide solid waste disposal company. I left the company as an Operations/Safety Manager. A great man once told me “Garbage Never Sleeps” that person is Noho Marchesi whom is now the owner of a chain of restaurants in Oregon. Noho and BFI influenced my decision to seek employment at NLSS. I truly believe that everything one does in life is directly influenced by their experiences. In the military you are in it 24/7 and so is garbage. 🌴
Taking my family and friends to Disney themed parks and saving our planet by recycling nonferrous metals. 🐭
The dump wouldn't be what it is without Carl. We are so grateful for him and his hard work the last (almost) twenty years!
