North Lincoln Sanitary Service's Guide to Holiday Recycling!
Wondering how you can make a bigger impact this Christmas? We recommend remembering the 3 R's + Compost to make the most of the holiday.
Reduce your gift wrap, bags, and bows by reusing the same as the year before. We recommend using a box during gift opening time to make sure you collect all the materials and put it with your decorations for next year.
Reuse your decorations, ornaments, and lights. You can donate your old decorations to local schools, churches or non-profit organizations. Swap your decorations with a friend or family member if you're wanting a new look! We also recommend using natural ornaments such as pinecones, shells, dried citrus, or berries.
Recycle all of the cardboard boxes that your gifts come in from the manufacturer and delivery. Even better, you can reuse them for wrapping the next year by breaking them down and storing with your decorations!
Compost your naked Christmas trees from January 2nd to January 12th. You can cut your tree in lengths that fit into your Mixed Compost Roll Cart and place your roll cart out the night before your Mixed Compost pickup day. If you miss your pickup day, you may bring your tree to Schooner Creek Private Transfer Station (288 S Anderson Creek Rd.) and have it recycled for free. Make sure your tree is naked – no tinsel, lights, or ornaments.
As a reminder, we accept the items below in your mixed recycling roll cart:
