Why Compost?

Now that spring has finally sprung, we wanted to answer the question, "Why Compost?"
#1 Composting can reduce your waste. Leaves, branches, fruits, vegetables, and yard clippings don't need to be wasted. Instead, they can be composted into a rich garden soil amendment.
#2 Composting helps to fertilize your soil. Instead of buying chemical fertilizers, use finished compost. Compost is a critical ingredient for healthy soil. It benefits soil structure and plant growth. Spread about 1/2 inch deep across a garden bed.
#3 Composting contributes to your community. Whether you're composting at home, at our woody debris depot, or in your curbside roll cart for mixed compost - you're giving back your waste to your community to help make new food.
#4 Composting diverts landfill waste by taking the items directly from the garbage to the compost roll cart to be taken to the composting facility in Corvallis or to your own home compost pile.
